Italy: Giorgia wins Cover Night of Sanremo 2025

It's Cover Night! All the Festival di Sanremo 2025 acts performed a special cover of a song, either solo or alongside another singer or competitor. At the end of the night one covered song outshined them all and won Cover Night

È arrivata la serata cover!

Sanremo 2025 is almost over...but not before the highly anticipated Cover Night took place!

Each year, Festival di Sanremo dedicates one of the nights to artists performing covers of songs. This year artists were able to select a song of their choosing and were given the option to perform it as a solo or as a duet with a guest performer or another contestant.

Cover night ended a bit differently this year than it has previously, though. After all the covers were performed, and all the votes were accumulated, Artistic Director and Host Carlo Conti unveiled the winning song of the night.

The voting to determine which cover song would win was split three ways: 33% press jury, 33% radio jury, and 34% televote. After all was said and done tonight, Giorgia with guest artist Annalisa won the Cover Night with their interpretation of the song "Skyfall."

Sanremo 2025 – 4th night

Running order

Although Giorgia won tonight, it has no effect on the total votes for the overall festival.

Co-hosting tonight alongside Carlo Conti in this incredibly special night was none other than Geppi Cucciari and Mahmood (Sanremo & Eurovision 2019, 2022, Sanremo 2024).

Just like over the past three nights, we got a wonderful selection of interval acts to create a memorable show.

On the Suzuki Stage tonight Benji & Fede performed "Dove e quando" in a fun and upbeat performance. Mahmood also performed an iconic medley of some of his songs including "NLDA Intro," "Bakugo," "RA TA TA," "Kobra," "Soldi," and "Tuta Gold."

Tomorrow night is Night 5, the final night, when this edition of Sanremo will draw to a close and crown someone with the victory. All 29 acts perform their songs one last time in hopes of advancing to the Superfinal. The final five in the Superfinal will undergo another round of voting to determine who will rise as the winner. The co-hosts will be Alessandro Cattelan and Alessia Marcuzzi.

Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest

Italy has participated in 49 Eurovision contests. They have won three times:

Their worst result came in 1966, when they finished last.

Italy 1958: Domenico Modugno - "Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu"

Italy's most well-known song is "Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu," better known as "Volare" from 1958. It is also the most covered Eurovision Song Contest song ever. The song has been covered by famous stars such as Dean Martin, Cliff Richard, David Bowie and many more.

Italy took a long pause from the Eurovision Song Contest between 1998 and 2010. Since then, Italy has been a "Big-5" country, which means they don't have to go through the Semi-final round and are automatically qualified for the Grand Final.
