Ticket sale suspended due to irregularities
The Israeli broadcaster KAN has instructed the ticket agency Leaan to temporarily suspend ticket sale for Eurovision Song Contest 2019. This happens after KAN's control systems have identified an attempt by various parties to intervene in the sale process.
KAN fears that hundreds of tickets, for the best seats in the arena were sold to relatives, senior executives and sports officials instead of the general public. Unofficial reports claim that 300 tickets were involved.
The sale of tickets has been temporarily suspended until the matter is examined. If it is found that tickets were sold illegally, KAN will cancel these tickets, and put them for sale to the general public.
Illegal selling of tickets reported
The tickets for the Grand Final were sold out within a short time, as expected.
There have been reported illegal reselling of tickets from unofficial websites. As a result, the Minister of Public Security, Gilad Erdan, has instructed the police to stop the illegal sale, saying that ticket speculation is an ugly and illegal phenomenon:
– It is not possible that a festive and joyous event, which is expected to be celebrated all over the world, will be a tool in the hands of criminals who undermine the face of the State of Israel, says Minister of Public Security, Gilad Erdan.
