alyona alyona & Jerry Heil have won the Ukrainian Vidbir 2024 Final and will represent the country at Eurovision 2024 with "Teresa & Maria"

Ukraine has chosen their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. The Ukrainian national selection contest Vidbir 2024 was filmed on Friday due to safety issues.

Due to technical issues with the voting app, the public voting only finished today and not on Saturday evening as planned, delaying the result 22 hours. The rules of Vidbir allowed the jury vote to be the deciding result in case it was impossible to carry out the televoting, but one of the jurors, Jamala (Ukraine 2016), was against this:

– All three of us (jurors) insisted that the people should vote. I am very happy that the public has spoken, as this is the essence of Eurovision.

Among the 11 artists competing in Vidbir 2024, alyona alyona & Jerry Heil were able to secure the win and will represent Ukraine with the song "Teresa & Maria." They came in second with the jury and won the public vote.

alyona alyona used to work as a nursery teacher nearby Kyiv before her music video "Rybky" ("Fishes") went viral in October 2018. One year later, her album "Pushka" was awarded as the best album of the year at Music Awards Yuna. alyona alyona has been widely-praised for her rap, even making the Forbes 30 Under 30. She has already worked together with former Ukrainian Eurovision winners Jamala (Ukraine 2016) and Kalush Orchestra (Ukraine 2022).

Jerry Heil participated in Vidbir two times with the song "Vegan" in 2020 and "When God Shut The Door" in 2023, when she finished in third place.

Last year, the duo released a song with Lithuanian Eurovision artist Monika Liu (Lithuania 2022).

Vidbir 2024

The Ukrainian national selection competition for Eurovision 2024 was hosted by former Eurovision hosts Julija Sanina and Timur Miroschnytschenko, as well as comedian Vasyl Baidak. Former Eurovision winners Ruslana, Kalush Orchestra, Jamala. Other Ukrainian Eurovision and Junior Eurovision acts performed in the interval act.

11 artists competed for the ticket to represent Ukraine in Malmö in May. The winner was decided by the jury and public votes, with each accounting for 50%. The three jury members were selected by the public: Jamala (Ukraine 2016), Andrii Danylko aka Verka Serduchka (Ukraine 2007), and Serhiy Tanchynets (frontman of the Ukrainian rock band "Bez Obmezhen").
