After so many attempts trying to represent Latvia in Eurovision, Samanta Tīna finally got the honour last year when she won the Latvian selection Supernova 2020 with the song "Still Breathing". Sadly enough, Eurovision 2020 was cancelled and Samanta was back at zero.

It was during a special program aired in May 2020 – Eirovīzija 2020: Studijā Samanta Tīna – that the Latvian broadcaster invited her back for Eurovision 2021. She didn't hesitate.

Determined to bring her A game to the competition, the Latvian star spent part of last year in a writing camp searching for the perfect Eurovision entry.

Out of 11 potential songs, The Moon Is Rising was the chosen one and it has just been released:

Samanta Poļakova, 31, has been on the music industry for almost ten years. She had previously tried four times to represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest until 2020 when she finally made it.

Besides taking part in various music contests around Europe and including Moldova, Belarus and Lithuania; Samanta has been singing in a children's vocal ensemble for 12 years.

She studied singing at the British Tech Music School and is still connected as an occasional vocal teacher.

Samanta says about her song "The Moon Is Rising":

– In my song, I advocate that we all women are equal, no matter who we are. We are not women, but the woman, we are each a queen, and each has its own crown. There’s also text that dirty games aren’t my thing, I can go with an open heart. My role will be the same. To say how it is and it will be.
