Latvia: Tautumeitas wins Supernova 2025 – To Eurovision with "Bur man laimi"

The girl group Tautumeitas will represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel after winning Supernova 2025 with the song "Bur man laimi"

Latvia's Supernova 2025 has just concluded and we now know who will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

Last Saturday's Semi-final found the 10 finalists that took the stage tonight hoping to convince both the public at home and the jury that they should be representing Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

After the 10 performances, 50% jury and 50% public voting selected the group Tautumeitas to represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with their song "Bur man laimi."

"Bur man laimi" was written by Asnate Rancāne, Aurēlija Rancāne, Elvis Lintiņš, Gabriēla Zvaigznīte, and Laura Līcīte.

Tautumeitas is a Latvian folk music group formed in 2015, composed of Asnate Rancāne, Laura Līcīte, Aurēlija Rancāne, Gabriēla Zvaigznīte, Annemarija Moiseja, and Kate Slišāne.

Their music is deeply rooted in Latvian folklore, often drawing from ancient melodies and lyrics while incorporating modern instruments like percussion, bass, and synthesizers. Tautumeitas gained international recognition with their debut album Folk Girls in 2018, followed by Dziesmas no Aulejas (2020) and Skrejceļš (2022).

The group’s name, "Tautumeitas," translates to "folk maidens," emphasizing their dedication to preserving and reinterpreting traditional Latvian culture.

The song "Bur man laimi" invites you to reveal your inner power and be aware of your own value, and offers protection against the wrongs.

Supernova 2025

Supernova 2025 featured two live shows:

  • Semi-final: 1 February 2025
  • Final: 8 February 2025

Both shows were held in Riga Film Studio, Riga and hosted by Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks. The decisions were in the hands of the Latvian public (50%) and an expert jury (50%).
