Moldova's song for Eurovision 2021 released – Listen to "Sugar"

Internally chosen artist Natalia Gordienko, will represent Moldova at Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with her song "Sugar". Listen to the song here

The Moldavian national broadcaster TRM, opted for an internal selection by reselecting Natalia Gordienko for the first time since 2007 due to the current restrictions the nation is being face with.

Natalia Gordienko was supposed to represent Moldova at Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song Prison.

"Sugar" will be the song which Natalia will sing at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

"Sugar"

The "Sugar" team is the same as what was presented with "Prison" that being composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos and Philipp Kirkorov whilst the lyrics written by Sharon Vaughn with Fokas Evangelinos thrown in the mix.

The video clip for Sugar has been directed by Katya Tsarik whom also directed Ukraine's 2008 entry for Ani Lorak "Shady Lady".

Natalia Gordienko

Natalia Gordienko was born on 11 December 1987 in Moldova's capital Chisinau. She has been performing on the big stage since the age of 15.

While still being a student at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, Natalia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Athens in 2006 with the song "Loca". The same year she won Slavianski Bazaar and became the most famous singer in the country. In 2007, she received the Grand Prix at the New Wave competition in Jurmala. She then represented her country at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles where she won the gold medal in the Voice Category. In addition, Natalia was awarded the title Honoured Artist of the Republic of Moldova.

Natalia has recorded 3 solo albums and featured duets with well-known Moldovan, European and Russian artists such as Irakli Pirtskhalava, Mohombi and CRBL. Moreover, her videos were shot by famous Directors from Ukraine, Russia and Romania, which have more than a million views on YouTube. She eventually collaborated with one of the largest Romanian labels, Fly Records.

Natalia has done 2 large solo concerts in the largest concert venue of Moldova and prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, she was actively touring around the world. She is also a TV host and DJ.

Moldova has participated in Eurovision Song Contest every year since its debut in 2005.

The best result was in 2017 where Sunstroke Project finishing 3rd with the hit Hey Mamma.

Out of the 15 times we have seen Moldova in Eurovision, they manage to qualify for 10 Grand Finals.
