Voilà! France has decided: Barbara Pravi to Eurovision 2021

Barbara Pravi will be representing France in Eurovision 2021 with the song "Voilà" after winning the French selection for Rotterdam, "Eurovision France, C'est vous qui décidez!"

The first country of Eurovision's Big 5 has decided: France.

The French broadcaster France 2 was determined on bringing Eurovision back to the French people and they kept their promise with the national selection Eurovision France, c'est vous qui décidez! The show was aired tonight and selected the artist and song that will represent France at Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.

After the jury and public votes were counted, it became clear that Barbara Pravi will represent France at Eurovision 2021 with the song Voilà. She won both the televote and also the jury vote.

During the first round, the public chose seven songs but the juries had L' Euro-Ticket to save one artist. The ticket was given to LMK with "Magique" which meant eight songs proceeded to the second round.

During the last round – Vote Ultime – the decision was split between the jury members (50%) and the public vote (50%).

The 27-year-old French singer and song-writer, Barbara Parvi has a mix of Iranian and Serbian roots. She is no stranger to the Eurovision world as she co-wrote two recent French entries for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, "Bim Bam Toi", which was performed by Carla, and "J’imagine", performed by Valentina which won the contest in November 2020.

Barbara has also written for famous French singers like Yannick Noah and Chimène Badi. It was in 2015 that Barbara Pravi was spotted by Capitol Records where she signed her very first contract. She later released her first single “Pas grandir” in 2017 which was included in her first EP, "éponyme". That same year, she obtained her first role as an actress in a TV movie La Sainte famille. In February 2020, she released a new 5-track EP "Reviens pour hiver".

Eurovision France, C'est vous qui décidez!

After picking Tom Leeb internally last year and having Eurovision 2020 cancelled, France's public broadcaster was determined to bring Eurovision back to its country and soon announced the production of a new national selection.

On 9 December 2020, France 2 released the 12 songs up for competition and shortly after announced a 10-member jury panel:

"C'est vous qui décidez!" was hosted by Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini in a studio in Paris, France.

France is a grand old country in Eurovision. They have participated 62 times since the start of Eurovision in 1956.

The best results are five victories in 1977, 1969, 1962, 1960, 1958. The latest victory was in 1977 – 43 years ago! The worst result was in 2014, where France ended last in the Grand Final, and in the last 16 years, they only managed twice to be in top-10.

France is a member of "Big 5", so they don't have to go through the semi-final-qualifications, but are automatically qualified for the Grand Finals.
