Copenhagen to host Eurovision pre-party in May: MalmöHagen

Copenhagen is ready to host a new Eurovision pre-party on 4 May. The "MalmöHagen" is debuting in Copenhagen this year, but will turn into a unique concept. As every year, it will travel to each Eurovision host city and celebrate on-the-spot just a week before the Grand Final

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held in Malmö, Sweden, on 7, 9 and 11 May after Loreen's victory in Liverpool with her song "Tattoo."

This year's host city is roughly 35 minutes away from Copenhagen, Denmark's capital city, which will obviously help co-hosting – and become second option for everyone who intends on attending Eurovision 2024 – since no other big city in Sweden is closer than the Danish capital.

For references only, Gothenburg (in Sweden) is located more than two hours away from Malmö, whereas one would take over four hours to get to Stockholm. Instead, a 12-minute train ride is all you'd take from Copenhagen to Malmö Arena.

Given the scenario and the opportunity, the Copenhagen Eurovision Party is working on an unique Eurovision pre-party scheduled for the 4 May – just a week away before the Grand Final of Eurovision 2024 and a day before the opening cerimony.

The lineup is far from complete, and the organization hopes to see multiple Eurovision 2024 artists join the party. But as of now former Eurovision winner Emmelie De Forest (Denmark 2013), Hera Björk (Iceland 2010), and Sweden's Melofestivalen veteran Paul Rey are confirmed to take part.

British TV and radio host James Barr will be in charge of hosting the event and will be joined by Annie Rection, a well-known Drag Queen Comedian and producer of "Just Another Drag Show." This will mark Barr's fifth time hosting a promoted Copenhagen Eurovision Party event.

Amongst performances, MalmöHagen will also feature a Vote Show for Eurovision 2024 (with an international Jury Panel), the "Drag-A-Vision" that will incorporate award winning drag artists into the show and, of course, a Euroclub moment that will last until 5:00 a.m. with DJ Ohrmeister.

Eurovision Festival

Moreover, the Copenhagen Eurovision Party organization has recently announced the intentions of integrating the list of the annual Eurovision pre-parties starting this year with the debut of the Copenhagen Pre-Party Festival Show (or MalmöHagen for this year's edition).

Unlike the Madrid PrePartyES or the Amsterdam Eurovision In Concert, this will be a pre-party which will travel to the host location and hold a Eurovision party a week before every Grand Final.

Besides the MalmöHagen, other pre-parties will be taking place later this year. Barcelona, Madrid, London, Amsterdam, and Stockholm will welcome Eurovision fans before showtime in May.
