Slovenia's Eurovision 2024 artist to be revealed on 12 December – Misija Malmö canceled

The Slovenian broadcaster has internally picked their artist for Eurovision 2024 and scrapped their selection show "Misija Malmö"

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster, has announced that their national selection "Misija Malmö" has been canceled.

Instead, they've already picked an artist internally to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. The artist has been selected based on the votes from an international expert committee.

The artist will be revealed on 12 December 2023 at 12:00 CET at a press conference at the Ljubljana Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet.

The song will be released at the end of January 2024 during a special show, and will be sung in the Slovenian language.

Back in October 2023, the Slovenian broadcaster announced a new national selection process for Eurovision 2024: Misija Malmö. It was planned that four songs would compete in a live show for a ticket to Eurovision 2024.

Press release from RTVSLO

– After last year’s success of the band Joker Out, which once again took Slovenia to the big Eurovision final, the broadcaster decided to choose the Slovenian representative this year in a similar way. In October, we announced a public call for song submissions, and at the same time announced that two expert committees, one of which would be international, would evaluate the submitted songs. The aforementioned jury also evaluated compositions by authors invited to participate by RTV Slovenia.

– Now RTV Slovenia announced that the performer has been chosen based on the votes of an international expert committee, but the name is being withheld for now. It will be revealed next week, on 12 December, at a media gathering at SNG Opera in Ljubljana.

– We believe that Slovenia will present itself sovereignly to Europe in Slovenian this year as well.
