Listen to the songs for Germany 12 Points

The songs competing at German's national selection for Eurovision 2022 have been revealed. An online voting will open by the end of the month and the winner will be chosen on 4 March

Determined to get more than just three points from the jury and, at least, receive a few from the public, German's public broadcaster (NDR) will be giving a voice to the audience this time around by hosting a national selection.

From 944 songs received, an expert jury consisting of music experts was in charge of selecting the best of the best where live auditions were held with 25 acts.

A special online show was held to reveal the lineup for Germany 12 Points including presentation of the artists and songs.

Germany 12 Points

The German artist and song for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will be selected in the show "Germany 12 Points". The show will be aired live from Studio Berlin Adlershof and hosted by Barbara Schöneberger.

The show takes place on 4 March where the six contestants perform their songs on stage. The German public will be able to vote for the songs already from 28 February, where an online voting will open. Viewers can also vote during the live show.

Germany in Eurovision Song Contest

Germany is a grand old country in the Eurovision Song Contest. They have participated 64 times since the beginning of ESC in 1956.

The only year Germany didn't participate was in 1996. Prior to the competition in 1996, 30 countries had signed up for participation, so EBU had to make a selection. Judges from the countries made a secret voting, where the 22 best qualified. During this voting, the judges only listen to but didn't watch the contestants. This turned out to be highly unpopular, and it was also the only time this method was used. The result of the voting was that Germany was ruled out. This was the first and only time Germany didn't participate in Eurovision Song Contest.

Germany 2018: Michael Schulte - "You Let Me Walk Alone"

Best result is two victories in 1982 (Nicole - "Ein Bißchen Frieden") and 2010 (Lena - "Satellite"), and the worst is seven last places. They are also a member of "Club Nul Points", with nul points in 1964, 1965 and 2015.
