Greece: Maria Elena Kyriakou to Vienna with "One Last Breath"

Tonight Greece held its national selection, "Eurosong 2015 – NERIT & MAD Show". Maria Elena Kyriakou won with the song "One Last Breath" and will represent Greece at Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna

"Eurosong 2015 – NERIT & MAD Show – 60 χρόνια μουσική" (60 years of music) was won by Maria Elena Kyriakou with the song "One Last Breath". Five acts were chosen internally to compete in the show, and the winner was decided by a 50/50 combination of televoting/jury. Guests were Helena Parapizou (Greece 2005), Giannis Karagiannis (Cyprus 2015), Freaky Fortune feat. RiskyKidd (Greece 2014) and Loucas Yiorkas (Greece 2011).

Maria Elena Kyriakou (Μαρία Έλενα Κυριάκου), 31, is from Cyprus and won the first season of "The Voice of Greece" last year. The song "One Last Breath" is composed by Efthivoulos Theoxarous, Maria Elena Kyriakou, Vaggelis Konstantinidis & Evelina Tziora.

Eurosong 2015 – NERIT & MAD Show

This years "Eurosong 2015 – NERIT & MAD Show – 60 χρόνια μουσική" (60 years of music) took place in the Enastron Music Hall in Athens on Wednesday 4 March 2015. The hosts of the show were Mary Sinatsaki and Doretta Papadimitriou. The event was a collaboration between the official Greek broadcaster, NERIT, and the private music channel MAD TV. MAD TV was the producer and organizer of the show. There were five songs competing for the ticket to Vienna.

The jury of Eurosong 2015 included Nikos Xanthoulis, Mihalis Oikonomou, Giorgos Niarxos, Tzik Nakasian, Litsa Piskera, Regina Kouri and Marianna Efstratiou (Greece 1989 & 1996).

Greece in Eurovision Song Contest

Greece started its Eurovision adventure back in 1974, and has been participating in the contest 35 times until now. They won Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with the song "My Number One" performed by Helena Paparizou. Since the victory they have been very successful in Eurovision. Greece, along with Russia and Romania have qualified for the Grand Final every single year since the introduction of the semi-finals back in 2004! Well done Greece! Since 2004 they have ended in top-10 nine out of 11 times. They never came last in the contest.
