Chaos when the tickets for Eurovision 2016 were released

Lots of anger follows the release of the tickets for Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm. »Worst management of the Eurovision tickets ever« and »So incredibly disappointed! Damn shit system« are some of the reactions

Today the tickets for Eurovision Song Contest 2016 were released through the ticket partner axs.com. But the booking of the Eurovision Song Contest did not work as smooth as expected, and a large number of ticket buyers were disappointed. It turned out to be very chaotic for many of the hopefull fans trying to buy tickets for one of the events.

»Worst management of the Eurovision tickets ever«

Several fans who didn't get tickets rages over the reservation system from axs.com:

»Worst management of the Eurovision tickets ever« says one of the disappointed fans.

»There has been heavy pressure on the site« says Daniel Stålbo, communications director at the Stockholm Globe Arenas where Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be held.

On social medias several Eurovision fans expressed great anger that they spent hours trying to book tickets – but failed:

»The worst management of Eurovision Tickets ever« and »So incredibly disappointed! Damn shit system« are some of the reactions on Twitter.

A spokesperson for AXS said:
»Demand for tickets to the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in the Globe Arena in Stockholm was immense. During all previous releases of tickets for big events we have always used a queuing system to ensure that tickets are sold to buyers in turn. Due to a configuration issue, some customers experienced technical problems. We are aware of this and apologise for the inconvenience caused and will make certain that this does not happen again in the future«.

Tickets sold out

»Has been in the queue since it opened, waited 1.5 hours until I could come in and then all is sold out while there are tickets on other websites from 7000 SEK (€900) and upwards« writes another dissapointed ticket buyer on Facebook.

The problems meant that many buyers were thrown out of the site after the long wait, and therefore, without tickets.

»There has been heavy pressure on the site. It always is, but this time it was extra« says Daniel Stålbo, communications director at the Stockholm Globe Arenas.

According to the ticket partner axs.com the tickets for the Grand Final live-show and Semi-final 2 live-show are sold out, but SVT has earlier announced that more tickets will be released in batches next year.
